| Lonmay Parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland was home for the Anderson family from at least 1769 until 1869 when James Anderson (Sr.), great grandson of Robert Anderson and Isabel Milne immigrated to Canada. Elizabeth, James sister and their mother - Rebecca Robb Anderson immigrated about 1872 to Blanshard Township, Perth County, Ontario where James Anderson and family were living. James and his family moved from Ontario to the R.M. of Hamiota, Manitoba in 1882. They along with a number of other families, many who were relatives, pioneered the community called Scotia - where descendants farm to this day. Jame Anderson's sister Rebecca Anderson Dickie and her family immigrated later in the 1890's to join their siblings in Scotia area. |
